I know driving in a foreign country can be tough, so I wrote several guides about driving in Croatia. These include tips on Croatian car hires, car rentals, Croatian highways and their toll systems and tips, as well as general tips on how to make the best out of your Croatian road trips.

What makes a road worth driving?

I started rating roads not with numbers but by how they made me feel when driving them. It turns out you can track feelings.

  • 🌀 Twist Factor – More twists mean a more amusing road, but too many twists and turns make it dangerous.
  • 🏞️ Scenic Value – Some roads provide amazing sights for photos, or just atmosphere.
  • 🚦 Traffic & Flow – Essential info, no use from a good road with never-ending traffic.
  • 📶 Surface Quality – Better quality surface means more fun.
  • 🛣️ Road Width & Elevation – We don’t think about these when we drive.
  • ✍️ Personal Vibe – The feeling of the route is what sticks with you.
